My students love to play this partner game, which challenges them to compare two fractions to determine which is larger. Each student has a stack of twelve cards, and each turn one over at the same time, similar to the game of War. The student with the larger fraction covers a spot on their turkey with a chip or penny. Students may use manipulatives if needed to determine whose fraction is larger. The first to cover the turkey wins. Cards can be reshuffled if necessary to continue playing. The game can also be played by determining who has the smallest fraction.
To prepare the game, just print the turkeys in color, if you wish, and print the fraction cards on colored card stock for durability. Enough materials are provided for two pairs of students to play at once.
