Product Description
This 4th grade Common Core Fraction Bundle will help your students understand fractions! This bundle is complete with teacher instructions, a sample strategy note-taking page, essential vocabulary notes for fraction terms, many fraction word problem printables, and more! There are also two activities that give students choice in creating something with fractions. The majority of the worksheets relate to adding or multiplying a whole number by a fraction. There are some complex problems that involve critical thinking (or two-steps to solve the problems). All the printables come with answer keys as well to save you time and effort!

Students are encouraged to try to solve fraction problems using different strategies, such as a number line strategy or drawing a mathematical model/picture. You can have great class discussions when you see the different strategies (skip counting, using multiples, etc) your students can come up with when solving the same problems as their peers.

The following Common Core Standards are covered in this lesson bundle:
4.NF.B.3.C
4.NF.B.3.D
4.NF.B.4.A
4.NF.B.4.B

Examples of problems included are, "There are 60 animals on a farm and 1/4 of them are birds. How many are birds? How many are not birds?"

Another problem asks students, "How can you split apart 6 whole pizzas into slices so that 8 friends can equally share them?" Your students have to determine how to split up the pizza so that no pieces are leftover.

One question asks students, "If you drink 1/4 gallon of apple cider every day for 11 days, how much have you had total?" This problem could be solved with repeated addition, multiplication (1/4 x 11), using a number line to skip count, or even with a mathematical model or drawing.

Several of the problems included require students to show their work using more than one strategy. This really shows they comprehend fractions and can lead to great discussions in the classroom.
