Fraction Word Problems includes Common Core teaching tips, fraction journal prompts, fraction word problems and an array black line master. Students will create visual representations of the fractions: halves, thirds, fourths, sixths and eighths. Students will investigate fraction concepts such as: fractions are equal size pieces; the larger the denominator the smaller the piece; one fourth is half of one half; one eighth is half of one fourth; and one sixth is half of one third. Students will compare fractions to one half, a landmark fraction.
