After reading "The Math Curse" by Jon Scienszka, students will mimic the creativity to show how fractions show up in their own lives.
This project can be used to extend student thinking about fractions and integrate writing into the math classroom. Students are given a choice in how to show their fraction understandings in a creative way. I allow final projects to be a full page similar to that from "The Math Curse," a children's book, infographic, comic strip or book, or anything that involves both writing and math.
