I have created these materials in four formats: two full color and two black and white. The sets on pages 3 and 5 are designed like traditional fraction strips except with their decimal equivalents. They could be cut apart and used as manipulatives. The sets on pages 4 and 6 show the cumulative part of the whole also with their equivalent fractions. They could be used as number lines.
I have made blackline copies for my students to keep in their binders for use during homework and class assignments. I find that the more they use the charts, the more they recognize the patterns.
Students can use these models to perform all of the operations required in the Fourth and Fifth Grade Common Core Standards for Number and Operations Fractions: comparing, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Students can use these materials to find and prove equivalent fractions.
