Fractions and Mixed Numbers - Identify 'Em and Sort 'Em contains 26 cards, 5 open response worksheets, 2 student response sheets for recording answers, and 2 answer keys.
26 cards with number lines on them can be used to identify 13 different fractions and 13 different mixed numbers. These same cards can be used in a sort to see which are closest to 0, 1/2, and 1, as well as exactly between 0 and 1/2 and exactly between 1/2 and 1.
If cards are laminated, students could use dry erase markers to draw “jumps” on the number lines to help them determine what fraction each is divided into. You could also have students label landmarks, such as 1/2 to help them determine where the arrow is pointing to on each line.
The five worksheets with open response questions all ask students to use words and diagrams to explain their thinking.
The colors of the cards are great for inclusion during the month of March and on St. Patrick's Day, but the content is perfect for any time you are teaching fractions or your students need review material. Please note that the content of this product is identical to Fractions and Mixed Numbers on Number Lines Pink
, but the graphics have been changed. Fractions fall somewhere between February and March for me, so I created the product with both themes.
