This product is a great way to introduce and review fractions. The unit starts off addressing the common core standards for third grade beginning with anchor charts to help student have a point of reference. The students are also given vocabulary words associated with to reinforce vocabulary acquisition. There are worksheets to go along with the centers as well as writing activity to help the students articulate their learning regarding fractions. It includes directions for the teacher to use with the activities. It includes multiplication grids to help students identify equivalent fractions. There are tons of engaging activities the students use to help identify parts of a whole, and offers additional reinforcement by having the students complete visual representations of fractions.
The activities progress to address partitioning a number line. The students will work on partitioning the number line using denominators 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8. For students who need extension exercises and enrichment, some pages are left blank for the teacher to choose different denominators to work with. The fun with a number line activity makes the best looking bulletin board, as the students partition a clothesline, and hang tee shirts with fractions on them!
