Two Project Based Learning Activities including "Bake me a Cake" and "travel Guide"
Bake Me a Cake
Students will be able to convert measurements between ounces, cups, pints, quarts and gallons and add, subtract and multiply fractions to see how much of the ingredients they have used to bake their cake. Students will get a recipe and a list of ingredients (along with pictures to cut out and put in their "bowl"). Students will subtract the amount of each ingredient that they need to bake their cake from the amount given to them (answers included)
This project based lesson gives students the opportunity to mix social studies and math. They get to research some of the most well-known cities across the United States and create symbols that best represents the facts they have discovered. They will also travel to each city and calculate how much gas they need and how many times they would need to stop to eat and sleep.
This pack also includes task cards and a fun game to play with candies or colored blocks.
