Through the use of this resource, children will build on their understanding of the different functions of the numerator and denominator. e.g: That the denominator tells us how many equal parts a whole has been split into and the numerator tells us how many equal parts of the whole there are.
As they work through each fluency task, children are given opportunities to use concrete materials and pictorial representations to find fractions of a quantity. Bar modeling is used to help children link the visual representations to the abstract method in order to understand why the method works.
Mathematical reasoning and problem-solving questions are also included, as well as
keyword display cards and answers.
