Fractions Decimals Percents - Sorting and Matching Activities: Get your students acquainted with the fraction, decimal and percent equivalences while learning to sort these values in ascending order based on both the circle fraction images, bar fraction images, and numerical representations of fractions.
First Activity - Ordering Race
How to play – Students can play in pairs or more (up to six players). Each student is given a comparison mat. The puzzle strips are to be placed in a pile in front of each player. Each player’s task is to slip each of the puzzle trips into place in ascending order (from least value below to greatest value above) on his/her mat before the other opponents can complete the task. Instructions for preparation are included.
Second Activity - Sorting
: (Use the blackline version for this game.)
Using only 4-6 copies of the puzzle strips, cut each one into each of the three sections; fraction, decimal and percent. Let students work in small groups to form the puzzle pieces into strips by matching the fractions, decimal and percents that are of equal value e.g. 1/4 = .25 = 25%
