Place fractions in the appropriate place on the number line. It's interactive and can be used as whole group instruction, small group, or for home use. We all know that students have a difficult time visualizing the size of fractions. In this activity, students will be able to manipulate the fraction bars and fraction circles in order to see what makes them larger or smaller. They will then place them on number lines according to their size. They will receive immediate, personalized feedback each time they submit an answer.
This activity is divided into the categories of number lines, same numerators, fractions with one piece missing, closer to 0, one half, or 1, with a 10 question challenge at the end worth a possible 1000 points.
This activity is unique to the Teachers Pay Teachers website. It will be like having another teacher in your classroom. The students should be able to work independently on each of these activities and will receive feedback while working through each section.
The main file is in pdf format and should play on all computers. I've provided another folder in other formats (html, htm, flv), so that it can be used on tablets or uploaded to an online course. If you choose this route, make sure to upload the entire folder and then make one format your main file.
You can also send this file by email to your parents so they can practice with their children.
