This powerpoint contains 2 short but creative animations to help students remember how to multiply and divide fractions.
The animation for multiplying fractions (see preview) shows an arrow with a "x" sign being shot straight through the numerators, causing the numerators to be multiplied together. The same thing then happens to the denominators.
The animation for dividing fractions shows the the top circle in the division sign transforming into a basketball. The bar of the division sign then tilts, causing the basketball to roll to the right. The rolling basketball hits the bar of the second fraction, causing it to flip upside down. The division sign then transforms into a multiplication sign.
Note: The fractions in the animations are simple and the answers do not need to be reduced or converted from improper to mixed form.
