This product is a fun fraction pizza craft or craftivity that I used with my third graders after we finished a unit on fractions. I love giving a math craft that sums up some of our learning. This goes well with Topic 9 and Topic 10 in Envisions Math and other math programs with fractions as the topic. It uses the word unit fraction which my students need lots of reminders about before state testing. It also slightly touches on equivalent fractions of a half.
This is an easy one to set-up for students to complete. All you really need to do is print it out a provide a paper plate. Print out the pages on plain paper. There are 7 different pizza varieties so that not every pizza will be the same.
Your students will need one copy of the actual pizza and the equivalent fraction piece. They should color their pizza and glue it to a paper plate (see examples). Then, they will need the second page of the writing portion of the project. There is a rough draft fill in the blanks portion which I check before I allow the students to write the paragraph below. There is a key included with all 7 pizzas for your reference.
Hang and display the fraction pizzas.
