I used this project for 3 years as an end-of-unit assessment on working with fractions when I taught 6th grade mathematics. The project has 2 parts: the poster and an essay. I included a list of student prompts for creating their written response that include explaining more about their topic and their design choices. Before setting students out on this project, we discussed what made a “good poster” (not too much information, large and neat enough to be read from a short distance, etc), so I included these points into the grading rubric. This project could be assigned to each student individually or students could work with partners/in small groups. I have had success with both configurations.
