Fractions worksheets for Math Centers with fun puzzles for equivalent fractions, simplifying, fractions of amounts or quantities, mixed numbers and improper fractions. These no prep printable Hidden Word / Spot the Mistakes Puzzles (with Answer Keys) are ideal activities for starters, early finishers, revision, and homework. Different puzzles from this packet could be used within the same class to provide differentiation and revision. They can be completed by individual students or pairs / small groups.
This PDF file includes the following puzzles:
Puzzles 1 and 2: Equivalent Fractions
Puzzle 3: Fractions in Simplest Form / Simplifying Fractions
Puzzle 4: Fractions of Quantities (Unit Fractions)
Puzzle 5: Fractions of Quantities (Harder)
Puzzle 6: Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions
An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these make ideal starters, early finishers or homework activities. You will come back to it year after year to use different puzzles with different classes and groups. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs or groups. Similar to codebreaker or secret code puzzles, a math-related word is revealed after completing the work. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a fraction / calculation and a letter. Pupils circle any boxes containing incorrect answers or errors such as non-equivalent fractions (depending on which puzzle it is). Then they assemble letters from the circled boxes to reveal a math word. There's a further question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the word.
Pupils often forget or avoid checking their work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
As I grow my TpT store over the next few weeks I will be posting more Hidden Word Puzzles for other Math concepts. Please consider following me to keep up-to-date with new resources.
