Suzanne Buras's Fraction Quick Tips are just that . . . Quick Tips on all things fractions! My 5th grade students maintain what we call a “Math Concept Development Notebook” where students either paste or create notes, images, foldables, charts, diagrams, how-to’s, etc., related to our standards. Use of color, humor, and fun help make the concepts more memorable and enjoyable.
The notebooks both reinforce skills and serve as a place to go to refresh the memory. I have students who have kept their notebooks on into junior high and beyond because they give quick and easy explanations and reminders on math concepts.
This particular “Quick Tips” packet focuses on FRACTIONS! I hope that it will be helpful to other teachers and their students! It is probably a best fit for 4th and 5th grades, maybe as a refresher for 6th graders.
