This series was designed based on an in depth analysis of 6th - 8th grade released test questions from the last three years. A comprehensive and sequential instructional plan emerged that provides a guide to developing rigorous real world problem solving skills along with mastery of basic skills involving fractions.
Texas TEKs 6.1A, 6.1B, 6.2D, 6.4G, 6.4F, 6.5C, 7.1A, 7.1B
Contents include 28 problem solving flash cards, with 2 flash cards per level. Word problem on one side and step by step problem solving directions on the other.
These review cards make great math centers, differentiated instructional support, reference notes, homework practice, and homework support. Students are able to work problems independently and receive immediate feedback as to their accuracy.
Instructional Skills and Concepts Include
* Identifying Fractions from Models and Diagram
* Simplifying (reducing) Fractions
* Drawing and Labeling Fractions on a Number line
* Converting Fractions to Decimals
* Using Proportions to find Equivalent Fractions
* Ordering Fractions
* Finding Equivalent Fractions in Word Problems
* Identify Fractions: Single and Multi-Step Word Problems
* Comparing Fractions: Single and Multi-Step Word Problems
* Analyzing, Ordering, and Comparing Data Found in Tables
* Using information to identify accurate and inaccurate statements
Two-Sided Problems Solving Task Cards provide an effective approach to independent practice and reteach that is necessary for mastery. The 14 levels of task cards progress in rigor from simple one step problems to rigorous multi step problems. They have been used to successfully prepare struggling students for the difficult state assessment tests.
Additionally,task cards provide parents an effective and structured approach to home study. I have received lot of support from parents that are grateful for a learning tool that they can use at home.
These review cards are part of a larger series of materials also available for purchase on this site.

Also Available for purchase:
* Fraction Problems Solving Task Cards: 18 Cards Per Level
(recommend printing on colored card stock and laminating)
After having received a lesson specific to each level, students work problems and check their answers which are on the back of each card. If student learns an answer is not correct they can reference their Fraction Review Cards for a quick independent reteach. After a student has independently gotten 3 or 4 problems correct without needing a reteach, he/she can request testing out which should occur the next day / session. (testing out on the same day does not demonstrate mastery)
* Fraction Problem Solving Modified Mini Lessons
These modified fraction mini lessons are unique because they break problem solving down into manageable chunks for struggling learners while teaching them to apply problem solving skills.
Each worksheet comes with simplified notes on the left column that the students can easily reference while working.
* Two worksheets specific to each problem solving level (this
allows multiple practice for mastery and for modified homework)
* Two mixed practice worksheets included with each set purchased
These materials have proven to be an effective tool when modifying lessons for remedial students and providing mandated IEP modifications as they provide comprehensive and sequential remediation of skills, concepts, and problem solving applications.
