Fraction Picture Cards contains forty fraction picture cards designed to accompany Pearson’s Grade 4 Investigations_ Unit 6. This package includes a set of cards in each of the following colors: teal, purple, orange, blue, pink, and gray. These cards provide 3rd and 4th grade students with the visual support they need.
Measuring Length Snowball Fight contains a fast pace measurement game in which students have a one minute indoor snowball fight.
Comparing Fractions 3rd Grade contains 23 printable pages in which students representation a given fraction on using a visual model. They will also place the given fraction on a number line. Students will use both the visual model and the number line to reason about the fraction’s size. Next, students will compare the given fraction to one-half and record the results of their comparisons using inequality symbols >, =, or, <.
Decimal Place Value | Number Line contains 4 sets four visual number lines featuring fractions and decimals from zero to one.
Ordering Fractions and Decimals is a great hands on learning activity. For this activity, students work in small groups up to 6 students per group. Each student is given a different lettered printable from pages 6-11. Their task is to color their grids matching the fractions and decimals on their printable. As students color, this is a great opportunity for the teacher to clear up misconceptions. After the students correctly color their grids, they will combine their cards with their group and order them from least to greatest. The students use the grid as a visual model to help them decide compare the fractions and decimals.
Common Core Fraction Lesson includes teaching tips, fraction journal prompts, fraction word problems and an array black line master. Students create visual representations of the fractions: halves, thirds, fourths, sixths and eighths. Students investigate fraction concepts such as: fractions are equal size pieces; the larger the denominator the smaller the piece; one fourth is half of one half; one eighth is half of one fourth; and one sixth is half of one third. Students compare fractions to one half, a landmark fraction.
