Digital and printable! Make understanding place value, operations, and fractions more meaningful with real-world problems. Easily provide differentiated for 3 levels: open response, multiple step, and multiple choice. This resource has practice for your 4th grade students with nine, print and go packets that include word problems for the 4.NBT and 4.NF standards. Engaging themes for these word problems include: superheroes, pirates, fall food stand, gardening, and winter!

This resource is now available in digital format that can be used on any device. I have added an interactive layer that will allow your students to use a pen and highlighter tool and to type their answers into text boxes. You can also edit the digital overlay or you can share it as is.

Once you purchase you will be able to download the PDF to print or share an interactive activity with your students through Google Classroom using the TpT Digital Activity Tool. Click on the red button: “Create Digital Activity.”

You choose the format best for your students and reward them with a fraction puzzle or sort included in each individual packet. These packets are perfect test prep, small groups, whole class, independent practice, centers, homework, assessment or morning work. These packets also provide challenging review problems for 5th grade students.

Word problems are essential to students’ understanding of concepts and are a critical component of common core and other state standards. Multi-step problems can be difficult to find, and it’s even harder to find problems that are interesting for kids! Engaging themes make the problems fun for students.

Each of the nine packets include:

•12 problems are offered in two formats to choose from: open-response and multiple choice

•12 additional problems require multiple steps for students needing extra challenges

•A fraction puzzle or sort is included for your whole class to enjoy or as fun early finisher work.

Compare two decimals to hundredths by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two decimals refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual model.
Express a fraction with denominator 10 as an equivalent fraction with denominator 100, and use this technique to add two fractions with respective denominators 10 and 100. For example, express 3/10 as 30/100, and add 3/10 + 4/100 = 34/100.
Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction by a whole number.
Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions referring to the same whole and having like denominators, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem.
Add and subtract mixed numbers with like denominators, e.g., by replacing each mixed number with an equivalent fraction, and/or by using properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
