This handout reviews the common elements found in both traditional and fractured fairy tales, provides directions for students to craft their own fractured fairy tale (based on Cinderella), includes suggested strategies for "How to" fracture a fairy tale, and a section for brainstorming.

This activity is designed to complement a genre study of fairy tales, myths, and motifs - but could easily be modified to fit other lessons or to stand alone. It is CCSS aligned. Rubric included.
