This pack provides 16 word cards and 12 brightly illustrated phrase/sentence frames for LOTS of practice of word-final /k/ at phrase and sentence level. The frames are especially great to use with younger students who are not yet confident readers as the picture cues and repetitive structure make the phrases/sentences easier to remember; however, your older students and more competent readers will have fun with them too!
In this activity, students place the word cards one at a time within the frame to create some weird and wonderful phrases and sentences. Talking about why the sentence is silly or sensible will also provide opportunities to promote carryover of accurate /k/ articulation into the students’ everyday speech.
The illustrated phrase/sentence frames are provided two-to-a-page and are designed to be cut and then bound together in booklet form (however, the individual sentence frames can also be cut and kept as separate picture mats – just cut off shaded ‘binding’ area). Binding the sentence frames into a booklet makes it easy for students to take home and flip through for extra practice. A booklet cover page and parent/helper information page are also included.
