Product Description

Make Francophone culture come alive by virtually traveling the globe with your students. Open their eyes and minds with these 101 video clips that will show them what it's like to live in other parts of the world. Once you watch one, your students will be hooked. They'll be captivated as they listen to various accents and learn about people's lives in the Francophone world. Great for all ages and levels of language learners.

Through these videos, your students will:

* Meet the Royal Drummers of Burundi

* Learn what not to do when visiting France

* Drive a car in the Grand Prix in Monaco

* Listen to a Moroccan rap video

* Learn how a drum is made in Guinea

* See how women recycle plastic bags in Burkina Faso

* Visit gorillas in Cameroon

* Catch the giant tiger fish in the Congo and much more.

Includes:

* Questions in French for each video

* Google Classroom version with questions and video links so students can work on this on their own.

Ideas for Using the Video Clips

Cultural Fridays:

* Each week, pick a country to study. Every Friday, show a clip or several clips from the country and have students answer the questions.

* Discuss the clip as a class. What cultural differences did you see? How is the landscape/lifestyle different from what we’re used to? Any new vocabulary words? Does the country look like a fun place to live? Why or why not?

For More Advanced Students:

* Before showing the clip, ask students what they know about the country, its people, and its culture.

* Afterwards, ask the same question. How did this video change your perception of the country? Do you think this one view represents all the people of the country or is just a small snippet?

Cultural Homework:

* Assign a video to watch for homework and answer the questions.

* Students write 5 questions about the video to ask their classmates the next day.

Sub Plans:

* Show one of the longer videos or several of the shorter videos and students answer the questions or take notes. Tell the students that the notes will be graded as a mini-quiz/homework assignment. If the video is in French, have the students watch it at least twice.

Most video clips are between 2-7 minutes long and most are appropriate for all levels of students (from elementary to high school). They are rated so you can tell which ones will be most appropriate for the level of your students. Some videos are in French, others are a combination of French and English, some are just visuals, and some have subtitles.

** You must be able to access YouTube at your school to use these. **

I included the countries with French as an official language, plus Morocco, where French is an unofficial second language: France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco, Canada, Haiti, Morocco, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, Chad, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Guinea Equatorial, Gabon, The Republic of the Congo, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Rwanda, Burundi, Seychelles, Comoros, and Madagascar.

Here's what teachers are saying:

* "AMAZING. Thank you so much!"

* "With the emphasis on authentic tools to teach, this is a life saver."

* "If I could give an A++ rating, I would! Thank you so much for sharing!!"
