This 18 slide Frankenstein power point introduces the students to the Romantic era with an explanation from William Lassiter on youtube. The genre of Goth and Gothic is explored, with an example of Poe's House of Usher, accompanied by a group activity where the students create their own story.
The students are introduced to a short biography of Mary Shelley and her husband Percy as well as the stories of Prometheus Bound and Rime of the Ancient Mariner. The three main characters in the novel and her narrative writing style (3 Layers) are explored. There is also a map highlighting all the places mentioned in the novel.
The second activity is a reader response to a quote from the novel centered around the revenge theme. The final activity is a seminar that students will develop after reading the novel.
Under each slide are teacher notes. Enjoy!
