This powerpoint takes students through a step by step process for writing a literary analysis response. It is best used as a culminating activity following a thorough discussion of Promethean traits. (See my other two powerpoints on Promethean Traits Introduction and Letters Close Analysis as well as the handouts designed to go with those two lessons).
This lesson provides instruction on (1) what literary analysis is; (2) components of a literary analysis paragraph response; (3) and examples of writing a literary analysis. The workshop takes students through the writing process from the prompt through the finished product. Use the accompanying worksheet "Frankenstein Promethean Literary Analysis Workshop Student Handout" with the powerpoint. TEACHING DURATION: Depending on the level of your students, this powerpoint can take anywhere from 1 - 3 class periods. It is a great resource to help your students develop, increase, or master their literary analysis writing skills. Great practice for common core writing assessments as students learn how to select, integrate, and analyze evidence!
