This multi-genre writing project ties in with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (or a play adaptation). Students will practice empathy and creative thinking as they put themselves in Dr. Frankenstein’s position. Several modes of writing, including casual first person, practical list-making and diagramming, and formal paragraph-style writing, will need to be implemented for a complete and successful lab experience.
If your high school students have worked hard at reading Frankenstein or if you just want to have some fun, this project is a creative and low-stress way for assessment. You will need to provide tubs of Play-doh and some toothpicks (these were very useful for students to keep their Creatures together) or other modeling tools. Dollar stores are obviously your friend for this activity. :)
This download includes a cover sheet, student instructions, blank worksheets for each section of the assignment, and a rubric.
