In this project based learning activity, the students will pretend they are living at the time of the Great Depression. They will work together or independently to research information about Franklin D. Roosevelt's life. After they have researched the
information about him, the students will relate to the New Deal by creating and developing a job opportunity for the American citizens who are without work.
The students will use a cereal box to create and design their company logo. They will then try to sell their company to the citizens by creating a commercial. On the cereal box they will have a logo, motto, and company name. They will then complete a writing activity to help them present the commercial to the class. The students will then vote on the company they would like to work for. The company with the most votes wins a award.
