Product Description
World War I Literacy Assignment Franz Ferdinand World History with pictograph

This product is also included in a bundle that has all of my best-selling WWI LESSONS for a savings of over 25%

If you are looking for a full semester try my SECOND SEMESTER OF WORLD HISTORY

This is a great ONE day assignment that checks all the boxes.

I will include the following:

- 1. Primary Source document- of Franz Ferdinand Shooting

- 2. Pictograph assignment- to be done outside of class to show understanding of the reading.

- 3. Literacy Assignment- This is a great resource to have students connect what they have learned to the past events as well as using evidence to prove a the answer to a question.

I first introduce the lesson by explaining the the 2 different countries Austria-Hungary and Serbia. I tell the students how Serbia did not want to be absorbed into Austria Hungary. I also like to show them pictures of the people involved which I included in the download.

I then introduce both assignment to the class telling them I want them to do the literacy assignment first and then work on the pictograph second.

The story takes about 10-15 minutes to go through explaining all the different vocab words as I tell them the story.

I then let the students work in class with another student as they get a really good grasp of the assassination.

VIDEO: This is a great follow up video to show more about the shooting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm3mWoKNe_Q

If this link does not work I have included another in the lesson.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Franz Ferdinand was 61 at the time of his death. Princip was too young to receive the death penalty and got 20 years in prison. His arm was amputated in 1917, and died in 1918 as he only weighed 88 lb. He died of TB which is a bacterial disease of the lungs usually from poor nutrition.
