Included in this handout are 50 sentences for students to translate individually or in groups. The focus is choosing the preterite or imperfect depending on the situation and correctly conjugating the verbs. Students will end up reviewing expressions that help them determine which tense to use, like “hace 3 días”, “cada semana”, etc. and vocabulary pertinent to ¡Así se dice! 2 Chapters 1-6, with a greater emphasis on chapters 5 and 6.
Sentences are broken into the following categories:
Regular verbs (10 questions)
Irregular verbs (20 questions)
Stem-changing verbs (10 questions)
Reflexive verbs (10 questions)
This is a challenging activity and I recommend having students work in groups. I like to give this activity to my students and walk around the room answering questions. Every 10 minutes or so I show the answers on the board using the projector for each block of ten questions.
This set of translations is a great review for final exams.
A preview is available.
An answer key is included.
