This is a Back-to-School activity designed to build a positive classroom culture, practice listening and speaking skills, and establish norms for future applications of this protocol. Students will interview a classmate to complete this document, introduce their classmate with a "fun-fact," and regroup based upon common likes and dislikes.
You will need to print copies of this PDF document.
NOTE: I learned about “Frayering a Friend” from Marlena Hebern and Jon Corippo’s book Eduprotocols, a text that I highly recommend for developing protocols in the classroom that accelerate student learning. For the full context of this lesson and its applications, I highly recommend the book—-or check out #EduProtocols @MarlenaHebern and @JonCorippo if you want more information. This document reflects how I will adapt their recommendation as a back-to-school activity for my secondary English classroom. If you search Google images for "Frayer model," you will see that there are literally thousands of variations of this activity.
