Freak the Mighty is one of my all-time favorite books to share with students. Not only is it a great story told through the fantastic voice of the character Max, but there are numerous literary skills that can be taught while reading the novel. This Freak the Mighty unit goes beyond basic comprehension questions and helps students to understand important literary terms and practice important reading skills and strategies in the context of the Freak the Mighty.
The daily lesson outlines, Power Point presentations, handouts, note-taking sheets, informational articles, writing prompts, and numerous fun activities included in this Freak the Mighty unit will help your students reach their learning goals.
A separate file is included that holds all the documents in Microsoft Word, which allows you to tweak the assignments or handouts as necessary to meet your class's needs and specific learning goals. (Sometimes the formatting gets messy through the download, which is why they are also in .pdf format. I included both .doc and .pdf so you can use whichever you prefer.)
