This is a 13 slide PowerPoint in which Frederick Douglass is introduced. Students then read an excerpt from his autobiography, from My Bondage and My Freedom.
Provided with this lesson are two activities. One activity will instruct students to explain each of Douglass’ main ideas and the examples he gives to support those ideas.
Students are often so surprised that Douglass wrote from My Bondage and My Freedom as they know he never received a formal education yet they find this autobiography to be difficult to comprehend! I love it!
The last activity on the PowerPoint is a short essay prompt.
