I used this PowerPoint to teach high schoolers with Emotional and Learning Disorders about Frederick Douglass. I used guided notes by typing out the bullet points in a Word document and leaving out some words with ___________ instead.
After the PowerPoint, I had the students write a letter to Frederick Douglass about a problem they were, or have, faced. We went to the computer lab and they typed up their letters. I then gave each student someone else's letter and had them respond as if they were Frederick Douglass.
