Instead of reading text and answering questions, why not mix in some creativity? This handout is a way to more completely engage your students while they read.
This is a concise summary of the life of Frederick Douglass. Students are asked to illustrate what they think is the most important point in each paragraph. After they have read the summary and and completed their illustrations, they must answer 5 thinking questions. I had to add SOME questions, right?
This handout can be used as a class assignment or homework.
