Frederick Douglass Primary Source
This fantastic Common Core aligned primary source activity features a short excerpt from one of the great abolitionist Frederick Douglass' speeches in which he talks about his philosophy of reform.
In beautiful and powerful words he explains why reform must be a struggle and must be demanded. Following the speech are 3 open-ended opinion questions that ask students to think deeply about what they read and interpret it for themselves. This makes for an excellent was to generate class discussion as a warm up or exit ticket!
