It is freebie time! Take a look at two free writing templates that are part of my product of all 30 Lessons of Journeys Fourth Grade, 2014 Edition. Each template is aligned with each week’s corresponding Journeys’ lesson. The week’s writing focus, grammar skill and steps for writing are included on each template.
As a K-5 teacher for decades, teaching writing has always been tricky….or rather frustrating. With students at various levels, it is rather overwhelming. The key that has been missing for me was an easy, yet effective plan for all of my students to be able to organize their thoughts and write with a purpose! When my son started writing “Five Paragraph Essays” in high school, the light bulb finally came on! Why can’t this precise and organized writing be done in elementary school as well? The answer is…..IT CAN!
I have designed various “rough draft” templates for the four types of writing. The intent of these templates is to be a road map/foundation to make the “rough draft” process more understandable for students. Each template guides the students what to write in each box, which will each become a paragraph.
I have included instructions in the freebie to help understand the process. I hope you enjoy! This process has sure made a difference in my teaching and the students’ writing! Once your students get the hang of the templates, they can easily be used in learning centers.
