Christmas 3 Day Fluency/Comprehension Reading Intervention
This is an original fluency passage I wrote and 2 pages of comprehension questions to accompany it. This packet includes a teacher copy that you can print in color and reuse. It also includes a black and white copy that you can print off for each student and record their scores on it. There are low level comprehension questions for day 1, and medium/high level comprehension questions for day 2. On day 3 I would do an extension activity that uses evaluation and/or creation thinking skills like having students research the Christmas star to find new interesting facts or create a Christmas star craft.
***This fluency passage and comprehension questions are included in the Fluency and Comprehension Reading Intervention for All Seasons - Third Grade Level***
Flesch Kincaid Readability Grade Level: 3.4
*How to Use*
This was designed to use as a reading intervention using the hot, warm and cold read strategy. It would look something like this:
Day 1: Cold read, discussion, first page of comprehension questions (Lower levels of Blooms Taxonomy including Remembering and Understanding)
Day 2: Warm read, discussion, second page of comprehension questions (Middle levels of Blooms Taxonomy including Applying and Analyzing)
Day 3: Hot read, discussion, My Pet Monster craftivity (Highest levels of Blooms Taxonomy including Evaluating and Creating).
You can use my fluency progress monitoring graph available for free in my store to track students’ fluency progress with this passage.
My fellow public school teachers might be thinking you can't use this passage because of the "religious" content. Not true! You can teach about the origin of Christmas and even read from the Bible as an example of "literature", as long as your holiday celebrations are inclusive.
I hope you love it! I really appreciate your feedback and follows. :) And be sure to remember the TRUE meaning of Christmas. *Matthew 1:21*
