Product Description
Close reading was our main objective while designing this product, however, we could not resist opportunities for writing, higher level thinking, student engagement, discussion generators, exit tickets, and activities for individual accountability for learning. This product was an outcome of our classroom work. We could see the importance of providing students with life long tools that they can use with any book to deepen their understanding.
It’s all ready for you. All you need to do is copy these pages and check out as many books of this title that you can find or download it on the Kindle app.
Kids love the I Survived series of books. Teachers find the book Notice and Note by Kylene Beers and Robert Probst a “must have” for teaching close reading, a Common Core State Standard. Pairing these books together in this unit provides you with explicit examples for introducing the sign posts: memory moment, aha moment, again and again, and words of the wiser. The free version includes only memory moment. You will want to download the complete version including all the signposts - 34 pages and Answer Keys.
