Description

Brand new AAC system out of the box? Not sure how to customize it for your student? Most AAC devices and apps come with at least a basic set of preprogramed pages for your aac user. But all systems need to be customized for the individual user, even those based on core vocabulary.

You want to make sure that there is sufficient vocabulary for the user to communicate whatever (s)he wants, whenever and to whomever. You want to make sure there is the vocabulary they want, but not an excess of vocabulary that will not be used/is not needed. So, where do you start?

This FREE handout provides a simple starting point for customizing an aac system for your user.

Good for teachers, parents, and SLPs.
