Since Washington State is now moving to CCSS, I wanted to create a student-friendly version in each of the text forms: Narrative, Opinion, and Informative.
I use this as a beginning of the year assessment. As I collect early writing samples, I can determine what I need to teach to my whole class and to small groups.
I will have these checklists available for student self-assessment and peer editing. Each item they put in their writing portfolios can include this checklist to show growth over time.
