Description
Task cards are a great way to have students move around in the classroom and collaborate with each other! If you plan to use task cards throughout the school year, I would suggest teaching students how to use task cards as soon as possible! I created these “getting to know you” math teacher task cards to be used at the beginning of the school year. There are 16 cards in all, and a student recording sheet.
If you download this product, I would love it if you would leave feedback! Feedback can be left by going to the product page, then going to "ratings & comments!"
There are multiple ways I use task cards in my classroom. Sometimes I have students pair up, sometimes I have students work alone. For this activity I would suggest having students sit in rows of 2. Each group should start out with a task card. After answering the question on the task card (should take 1-2 minutes) each group should stand up and scoot down to the next card. Cards should stay in their original spot the entire time! If you would prefer not to have your students move, you can have them pass the task cards, but personally I have found students get more excited about an activity when they are able to move around (even if they are just moving down 1 seat!)
There are 2 versions of the cards included in this set. One has each question written out, the other has QR codes (each qr code leads to a question!) To print out only the written set, print out pages: 3-7. (This will print out all of the cards, the student answer sheet, and the teacher answer sheet). To print out the QR code version print out pages: 7, 10-13. This instruction page is page 2. QR Code scanners can be downloaded for free from any app store! I prefer to use an app called “ScanLife” which can be found in the google play store. Itunes also has many free QR code scanner apps. Students can use their phones, or Ipods to read the codes.
