I assign How to Read Literature like a Professor as summer reading as I think many AP Literature teachers also do. For years, I struggled with ways to intentionally incorporate the take-aways throughout the year. As a result, I have created a series of quick activities that can be used with any novel or play at any point during the year.
This download is a set of task cards which can be used in a variety of ways. Each card includes a quotation from How to Read Literature Like a Professor. A second version includes the quotation with a prompt. You can use them for group or jigsaw activities. They can be discussion starters, quick writes or reading checks. These are great companion to "The Professor Says / I Say" Handout (or included with The Reading Like a Professor Big Bundle). Students will need to be familiar with the text in order to fully appreciate these task cards.
These cards are from the interlude chapter called "One Story."
