This is an activity I do every year with my Introduction to Art students. At the beginning of each semester I introduce drawing basics through the face/vase worksheet and upside down drawings.
For the face/vase activity students have to mirror the line on the left side. This helps them pay attention to small nuances in the line. For the upside down drawing students have to look at the image upside down and re-draw it upside down. By drawing the image upside down they are no longer focusing on trying to recreate an eye, nose, and mouth. Instead they are focused on the lines and shapes that make up the image.
I was handed down these worksheets my first year teaching and they were a huge help! I want to pass them onto other art teachers to hopefully help out in their classes.
