This is a sample page from a book of 32 word work worksheets is focused on comparing short and long vowel sounds. Each page has students listening and deciding if they hear the short or long sound and circling "short" or "long, identifying how many sounds they hear in the word (opening up discussion and revelations) and then spelling the word. It's like picture sorting without the cutting and pasting. (Although I still prefer the hands on picture sorting and the cutting and the gluing, but I use these as reinforcement).
This book introduces one long vowel pattern at a time and compares it to the companion short vowel. It moves through all of the common long vowel patterns.
I hope you find as much success as I have using these worksheets in your classroom!
