Literacy Log Roles are a great way of teaching balanced literacy skills with different strategies, all in a small group setting!
Great for literacy centres too including:
Each student is given one of 9 roles to work under. It starts off individual, then a group share session, and then a whole-class share.
This process promotes independent, creative thinking and enjoyment in reading, and is very helpful for struggling students or those learning English as an additional language.
I've used these roles as high as 7th Grade, with the roles expanded upon, even smaller groups or each student working under multiple roles.
