In this lab, students investigate their cheek cells under a microscope. I have found that this lab works best if students are already familiar with how to use a microscope and if they have a basic understanding of the parts of a cell (nucleus, cell membrane, etc.).
Other than microscopes, you will need slides, coverslips, toothpicks, and dye to stain the cells. I kept the directions very straightforward and student-friendly so that students can be more independent.
There are analysis questions on the back AND a word search for early finishers. The document is in Word for easy editing. Enjoy!!
