Product Description
Reading - This amazing bundle of book reading activities will get your students reading and keep them accountable for what they read. The creative activities are so much better than the old book report. The activities could be sprinkled throughout the year to encourage your students to read books of their choice. This bundle includes six relevant and varied book activities that will be interesting for the whole class if you choose to have your students do presentations.

1. Seven Key Focus Areas project and essay, centering around 7 Key focus areas usually found in any book (i.e. friendship, romance, family, fame, work). Suitable for grades 7-12 and adaptable for any narrative work of fiction or non-fiction.

2. A book project that focuses on a student-choice biography.  The project includes an in-class verbal quiz section and seven writing tasks. The tasks, which  focus on comprehension, connection, speculation, characterization, interpretation, evaluation and  reflection, can be used together or separately. The project can also be easily adapted as written prompts.

3. The gold standard book report. This thorough and easy-to-grade book project can be used with any grade-level book students might choose to read. The written portion combines a variety of formats (paragraph, memo, business letter) with common literary analysis topics (plot, characters, connections). The panel presentation portion of the project combines collaborative analysis of books in small groups with formation of panels that present information about plot, style, theme and more. This project has held up well over many years and many level of English classes.

4. The interview project asks the student to prepare a verbal presentation to a panel of teachers that convinces the teachers to use the book read by the student. This is a perfect project for use in a class where persuasion or marketing (or both) is emphasized. Besides providing a thorough analysis of a book, it’s a fun and interesting project. The project can also be easily adapted as a written project. Includes scoring rubric.

5. This essay prompt is designed to follow the reading of a book about leaders in a corporation or small businesses. Suitable for grades 7-12 and adaptable for any narrative work of fiction or non-fiction that involves someone working in a corporate or small business environment. The panel presentation portion of the project combines collaborative analysis of books in small groups with formation of panels that present information about plot, style, theme and more. This project has held up well over many years and many level of English classes.

6. Free Reading Book project culminates in an interview about the book read. There are seven interview topics (comprehension, connection, speculation, characterization, interpretation, evaluation, reflection) that can be used together or separately. The project can also be easily adapted as written prompts.
