About The Resource

I created this resource to truly understand what in the world is going on today. If your students are bewildered with why the world is the way it is but have the inkling in their hearts that it doesn't have to be that way, and are willing to dig deep and look at a very broad international picture using a state of the art data visualization tool, this is the resource for your class! This resource was created with Esri, the data visualization software used by the United Nations and some of the world's leading data driven efforts.

The essential question that this resource supports are "What are the problems facing humanity today?" and "What resources do we have to solve those problems?"

Using theme “When Spiderwebs Unite They Can Tie Up a Lion” from an Ethiopian proverb, this online data visualization is an interactive tool for you and your students to visually see the state of the world in 200+ countries, across over 40 dimensions of global data today. The data comes from sources such as the World Bank, World Health Organization, UNICEF and many more reputable international publicly available international data sources.

To answer the question "What are the problems facing the world today?" you'll explore the global “bad news” like poverty, disease, natural disaster incidence, etc.

To answer the question, "What resources do we have to solve those problems?" we look at the global “good news” (any useful resource that we have such as water, food resources, hospital beds etc) and "the power to unite", which showcases the latest psychological and sociological data available on an international scale.

Perfect for engaging students in lively debate and for creating more global awareness, this tool can be a resource for projects, papers and a fun interactive whole class explore. If you're interesting in stirring the hearts and minds of future leaders, consider checking out this resource. Enjoy!
