This is a one page worksheet, that helps your students be more independent in book discussions. The worksheet is a remix of the KWL worksheet that we often use. Students are asked to:
* Predict what the story is about after viewing the front and back covers.
* Recall and share information that they learned during the course of reading and discussing the book.
*Express opinions by sharing likes and/or dislikes about the book.
*Visualize a key detail from the story and draw and illustration.
*Formulate 2-3 sentences to describe the illustrated detail.
They are prompted to predict (based on looking at the front and back covers) what they think the book is about. They share information that they learn from the book. In addition, they give you feedback about what they liked and disliked about the book. A little bit of visualization is required by prompting the students to draw a scene about one of their favorite details or events that occurred in the story. There is a sentence formulation task which prompts students to formulate a 2-3 sentence description of their illustrations.
