This is an absolutely cute idea! I have provided you with Squiggle Story writing paper, all you need to do is print (front to back), and then add your squiggle to the picture box. The students love this!! The squiggle can be whatever you like. I usually use sharpie (because when I then go run copies, it prints nicely for my student copies). Squiggles are just what you think of...swirls, twirls, loops, humps, waves, whatever. The catch is the kids have to create something out of their squiggle. So they are essentially doing the artwork/picture first. I encourage mine to leave no white space...add as much detail to their picture using their squiggle, as possible! Then they jump into writing a creative story to go along with the picture they have created. My kids absolutely love squiggle writing days and get so excited to see what the next squiggle will be!
