Freedom on the Menu: The Greensboro Sit-Ins by Carole Boston Weatherford is a fabulous mentor text and a wonderful example of Historical Fiction. This excellent text has a powerful message and is a wonderful picture book to use when teaching about segregation, civil rights movement, and events for Black History Month. I have created a variety of activities and resources that will engage your students and get them to dig deeper into the text along with using higher order thinking skills. The following activities can be used for whole group, centers, small group, or individually.
